He was born Oct. 18, 1934, in Streator, to Arden and Florence Uphoff Tallyn. He married Victoria Lynn Schirer on Dec. 28, 1977, in Varna. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Arnold E. Tallyn Jr., Roanoke; and two sisters, Arlene (Donald) Wolf and Anne (James) Kapraun, both of Benson.

An Army veteran, Arnie was a member of the American Legion Post 463 in Roanoke.

He was a self-employed farmer and truck driver.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home, Roanoke. The Rev. Richard Hill will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Clayton Township Cemetery, Benson, with military rites by American Legion Post 463.
